Connecting Clearcue to HeyReach takes under 15 minutes: paste your HeyReach API key in Clearcue's integration settings, create a list sync, and signal-qualified leads start flowing into your LinkedIn outreach campaigns automatically. This guide walks through the full setup — both the native integration for automatic syncing and the Claude MCP method for AI-orchestrated workflows.
Most LinkedIn outreach fails because it targets people who are not buying. You send connection requests and messages to a list of job titles, hope someone responds, and wonder why reply rates sit at 3-5%. The people you reach are not in-market. They have no context for why you are reaching out. Your message lands alongside dozens of others that look exactly the same.
Signal-based outreach flips this. Instead of guessing who might be interested, you reach out to people who already show buying behavior — engaging with your content, interacting with competitors, attending relevant events, or discussing problems your product solves. When you message someone who just liked three posts from your competitor and commented on a thread about the exact problem you fix, reply rates jump to 25-35%.
Clearcue detects these intent signals. HeyReach automates LinkedIn outreach. Connecting them creates a pipeline where the right people automatically land in the right campaigns at the right time — no CSV exports, no manual list building, no guesswork.
Who Should Use This Guide
This setup is for anyone running LinkedIn outreach who wants to move from volume-based to signal-based targeting:
- Founder-sellers doing their own outbound who need every message to count because they do not have time for low-reply-rate sequences
- First sales hires at startups building their outreach system from scratch who want signal-qualified lists instead of scraped databases
- SDR/BDR teams running HeyReach campaigns who want to replace static lead lists with dynamic signal-fed audiences
- Outbound agencies managing multiple client campaigns who need a repeatable system for signal-based targeting across accounts

You should already have at least one active signal configuration in Clearcue generating intent data, and at least one LinkedIn account connected in HeyReach. If you are starting from scratch with signals, check out how to score leads 0-100 with intent signals first.
Method 1: Native Integration (Automatic Syncing)
The native integration connects Clearcue directly to HeyReach. Lists sync automatically — every new person added to a connected list gets pushed to HeyReach without manual intervention.
Step 1: Get Your HeyReach API Key
Open HeyReach and go to Settings → API. Copy your API key. This is the only credential you need.
Step 2: Connect HeyReach in Clearcue
In Clearcue, go to Settings → Integrations → HeyReach. Paste your API key and save. Clearcue validates the key immediately — if it is valid, you will see a confirmation and the key appears masked for security.
That is it for the connection. The two platforms can now talk to each other.
Step 3: Create Your First List Sync
A list sync maps one Clearcue list to one HeyReach list. When people are added to the Clearcue list, they automatically appear in the connected HeyReach list, ready for campaign enrollment.
From the integrations page:
- Click Create Sync in the HeyReach integrations section
- Select a Clearcue list — this is your source. Choose a list that contains signal-qualified people (e.g., "Competitor Engagers" or "Hot Leads Q2")
- Select an existing HeyReach list or type a new name to create one on the fly
- Confirm the sync
From an individual list:
- Open the list you want to sync
- Go to List Settings → Integrations
- Select HeyReach as the destination and configure
Both methods produce the same result. Use whichever fits your workflow.
Step 4: Monitor Sync Status
The integrations page shows all active syncs with:
- Status — whether the sync is active or paused
- People synced — how many contacts have been sent vs. total list size
- Last sync — when the most recent sync ran
You can pause a sync without deleting it, trigger a manual sync at any time, or view the detailed run history to check for failures.
What gets synced: LinkedIn profile URL, first name, and last name. HeyReach uses the LinkedIn URL to match the person in their system.
Step 5: Set Up Webhooks (HeyReach → Clearcue)
The native integration pushes data from Clearcue to HeyReach. Webhooks close the loop by sending engagement data back — so you can see which prospects replied, which messages were sent, and track the full outreach cycle alongside your intent signals.
- In Clearcue, go to Settings → Integrations → HeyReach and find the Webhook Setup section
- Copy the auto-generated webhook URL
- Open HeyReach Settings → Webhooks
- Create a new webhook, paste the Clearcue URL, and enable the event types you want to track
Available event types:
| Event |
What It Tracks |
| Message Sent |
Regular LinkedIn messages delivered through campaigns |
| InMail Sent |
Premium InMail messages delivered |
| First Message Reply |
First response from a lead to a regular message |
| First InMail Reply |
First response to an InMail |
| Every Reply |
All responses including follow-ups |
For most teams, enabling Message Sent, First Message Reply, and Every Reply covers the essentials. These events appear as signals in Clearcue, giving you a complete view of outreach engagement alongside intent signals.
Step 6: Create HeyReach Signal Configs
To actually see webhook events as signals in Clearcue, create signal configurations for them:
- Go to Signals in Clearcue and create a new signal
- Select HeyReach from the source sidebar
- Choose the event type you want to track (e.g., First Message Reply)
- Select which sender accounts to monitor
This turns HeyReach engagement data into trackable signals. A prospect who replied to your outreach now shows up in your signal feed alongside their original intent activity — you can see the full journey from "liked a competitor post" to "replied to your LinkedIn message."
Method 2: Claude MCP (AI-Orchestrated Workflows)
The MCP method connects both Clearcue and HeyReach to Claude, letting you orchestrate the entire signal-to-outreach workflow through conversation. Instead of manually creating lists and syncs, you ask Claude to find qualified leads, filter them, and push them to campaigns.
This method is best for teams that want Claude to handle the thinking — scoring leads, applying ICP filters, and making campaign assignment decisions — rather than doing it manually through the UI.
Step 1: Connect Clearcue MCP to Claude
- Open Claude and go to Settings → Integrations
- Search for Clearcue and click Connect
- Authorize Claude to access your Clearcue workspace
For detailed MCP setup instructions, see our Claude MCP connection guide.
Step 2: Connect HeyReach MCP to Claude
- In Claude Settings → Integrations, search for HeyReach
- Click Connect and authorize with your HeyReach account
- Claude can now read your HeyReach campaigns, lists, and accounts
With both tools connected, Claude can read signal data from Clearcue and write to HeyReach campaigns in a single conversation.
Step 3: Build Your First AI-Orchestrated Campaign
With both MCP connections active, you can run workflows like this:
The prompt:
Using Clearcue, find people who engaged with our competitor signals in the last 14 days. Filter to B2B SaaS companies with 50-500 employees.
Then create a new list in HeyReach called "Competitor Engagers April" and add the leads to it.
What Claude does:
- Queries Clearcue for recent competitor engagement signals
- Applies your ICP filters (company size, industry)
- Creates the HeyReach list
- Adds the qualified leads
What would take 20-30 minutes of filtering, exporting, and importing happens in one conversation.
More workflow examples:
Show me everyone in Clearcue who showed intent signals this week
and is not already in any HeyReach campaign. Group them by signal
type and suggest which campaign each group should go into.
Check my HeyReach campaigns for leads who replied in the last 7 days.
Cross-reference with Clearcue to show me their full signal history.
I want to know what intent they showed before we reached out.
When to Use MCP vs. Native Integration
| Scenario |
Best Method |
| Ongoing list sync (set and forget) |
Native integration |
| One-time targeted campaign build |
MCP with Claude |
| Weekly scored lead pushes |
MCP with Claude |
| Automatic sync of a filtered audience |
Native integration |
| Cross-referencing signals with campaign replies |
MCP with Claude |
| Simple list-to-campaign pipeline |
Native integration |
Most teams use both. The native integration handles the steady-state syncing of core lists. MCP handles the ad-hoc workflows where you need Claude to filter, score, and decide.
The Full Signal-to-Outreach Pipeline
Here is the complete workflow combining both methods:
1. Detect intent signals in Clearcue
Set up signal configurations to track the buying behavior that matters for your ICP: competitor engagement, topic searches, lead magnet interactions, event attendance. These run continuously and surface new intent daily.
2. Build filtered lists of signal-qualified leads
Use Clearcue's audience filters to segment by ICP criteria (company size, industry, seniority, location) and signal strength (recency, frequency, signal type). Save these as lists.
For a detailed walkthrough on building scored lead lists, see how we qualified 3,000 companies to 39 hot leads.
3. Connect lists to HeyReach campaigns
Use the native integration for lists that should sync continuously. Use Claude MCP for one-time pushes or when you want AI-driven scoring before syncing.
4. Close the loop with webhooks
Enable HeyReach webhooks so reply and message events flow back to Clearcue. Now your signal feed shows the full picture: intent detected → outreach sent → reply received.
5. Iterate based on engagement data
Use the combined signal and outreach data to refine your targeting. Which signal types produce the highest reply rates? Which ICP segments respond best? The data flows both ways, so you can continuously improve both your signal configurations and your outreach sequences.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
API key validation fails
Double-check that you copied the full key from HeyReach Settings → API. The key should not have trailing spaces. If it still fails, generate a new key in HeyReach and try again.
Sync shows 0 people synced
The Clearcue list might be empty or the sync has not triggered yet. Check the list has people in it, then trigger a manual sync from the integrations page. If it still shows 0, check the sync run history for error details.
Webhooks are not creating signals
Verify the webhook URL is correctly pasted in HeyReach. Check that you enabled the right event types. Then confirm you created a HeyReach signal configuration in Clearcue for the event type you are tracking. Without the signal config, webhook events are received but not surfaced.
MCP connection not showing data
Make sure you authorized both Clearcue and HeyReach in Claude's integration settings. Try disconnecting and reconnecting if data is stale. Each MCP connection needs its own authorization.
Start Today
- Connect HeyReach — Go to Settings → Integrations → HeyReach in Clearcue and paste your API key
- Create your first list sync — Pick your highest-intent list and connect it to a HeyReach campaign list
- Enable webhooks — Copy the webhook URL and set it up in HeyReach to close the feedback loop
- Try the MCP method — Connect both tools to Claude and run your first AI-orchestrated campaign build
The entire setup takes under 15 minutes. Once connected, every signal-qualified lead flows into your outreach campaigns automatically — no exports, no imports, no manual list management.
If you do not have signal configurations set up yet, start with our intent signal scoring guide to build your first signal-qualified lists, then come back here to connect them to HeyReach.
